Iowa State students are invited to attend the third year of Cyclone Welcome Weekend events throughout the weekend before classes.

Katy Cran, event co-chair of Cyclone Welcome Weekend, said this is a great opportunity to connect with other cyclones, faculty and staff.

“We have between 85 to 100 volunteers who will be helping out those two days, so it really introduces them to our faculty and staff and our senior leadership on campus,” Cran said.

Cran said this is the third year of Cyclone Welcome Weekend and described it as a unique program.

Cyclone Welcome Weekend’s Saturday schedule:

  • G.O.A.T. Breakfast on Central Campus from 8 a.m. to noon
  • Gallery of Games in the Memorial Union Durham Great Hall from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Turn up the heat at the Ames Public Library from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Insect Zoo Bug Village 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Advanced Teaching and Research Building

  • Hypnotist and comedian Chris Jones from 8 to 10 p.m. at Stephens Auditorium

The only event planned for Sunday is the Passport Adventure at Parks Library from 2 to 5 p.m. Details on all of the events can be found on their website.

Cran said she is most excited for their G.O.A.T. breakfast event, which is “FULL OF GOATS” according to their website.

“This has been a really big it the past two years and so this year we will have the baby goats again at breakfast on central campus from eight to noon,” Cran said.

Cran said the event also hands out free food and and free swag.

“Just for showing up you could get a juicy wiggle shirt, you can get entered to win, and maybe win one of our 50 giveaways,” she said.

The co-chair said there will be special guests and surprises along the way.

“We’re just really excited to see them, and there’s always surprises in store. So come and see and participate because you never know what’s going to happen,” Cran said.
