In a shocking revelation, nearly 17,000 first responders in the United States have been reported to be affected with different forms of cancer and other deadly diseases. A New York Post report has stated that law enforcement department officials who attended to the 9/11 scene shortly after hijacked planes hit the Twin Towers, have been ridden with various diseases, including cancer. A list of data collected from FDNY, NYPD, and even the Port Authority of New York, include at least 45,200 civilians and officials.

9/11 attacks leave major aftershocks

The September 11 attacks have left some major effects on the US citizens, including mental stigma, injuries, and even different forms of diseases. This total of nearly 50,000 civilians and officers affected by the deadliest terror attack on US soil is higher than the actual death toll itself, says NY Post. Those who were exposed to fumes, smoke, and the traumatic visuals of the day of the attack, have all become victims of at least one physical or mental illness, that has mostly affected them for life.

FDNY responders faced major wrath of the 9/11 attacks

The FDNY first responders who are enrolled in the World Trade Center Health Program, have been affected by multiple certified illnesses, and have undergone treatment around the same till now. The aftermath of the 9/11 attacks are so deep-rooted, that it has not only led to mental and physical stigma, it has also triggered major social security fears, including different kinds of phobia.

Pulmonary fibrosis, which is a severe lung disorder, was also observed in a maximum of cases of fire department officials in the FDNY, as they were exposed to various kinds of toxic fumes that took days to extinguish.
